Betty A. (Willis) Simpson, 90, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Cortland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Cortland, NY. 

Born on January 30, 1934, Betty was the daughter of the late Glenn and Martha Conklin Willis.  Betty's life was marked by her dedication to family, friends, and her career. She was a devoted member of the Emmanual Baptist Church in Cortland.  Throughout her professional life, Betty was known for her unwavering commitment and diligence. She retired from the Cortland County Department of Social Services, where she served as a secretary in the investigation unit. Her career also included employment at SUNY Cortland and Grumman Boat.

Betty was a sweet and loving person whose warm spirit touched the lives of many. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Steven (Cathy) Mushock of New Jersey; and her daughters, Lori Mushock Young of Marathon, and  Tami Mushock Natale (John Gosse) of Homer. Betty was also a cherished grandmother to Laci (Anthony Bishop) Young, Michael Natale, Alicia (Ryan) O'Rourke, and Erik (Amanda) Swerdlow; and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Reverend Glenn "Bud" (Margaret) Willis, of Anchorage, AK, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands Steven Mushock, Sr., and Grady Simpson; and her brother, Gary Willis.

A funeral service to honor Betty's life will take place at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tom Boice officiating.  There will be no prior calling hours.  Burial will take place at the Marathon Cemetery.  

As we reflect on Betty's life, we remember her kindness, her unwavering support to those around her, and the love she shared with her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Expressions in memory of Betty may be directed to the Emmanual Baptist Church, P.O. Box 367, Cortland, NY 13045.
