Earle D. Hubbard
Earle D. Hubbard, 92, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, after becoming ill at home.
Mr. Hubbard was born in Cincinnatus, NY, on June 13, 1928, the son of the late Harlow and Bessie Keator Hubbard. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He retired from the Greek Peak Ski Resort where he had worked for 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time in his garden and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his sons, Raymond Hubbard of Delray Beach, FL, Ralph Hubbard of DeRuyter, Ronald Hubbard of DeRuyter, Randy (Julie) Hubbard of Marathon, and Richard Hubbard of DeRuyter. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Randy (Aaron) Hubbard, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Jodi (Stephen) Corl of Cortland, and Ryan Hubbard of Marathon; his great-grandchildren, Roland, Lilly, and Ava Corl; a sister, Bunny Jones of Cortland; a former brother-in-law, Doug Jones of North Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Frank Hubbard, Emerson Hubbard, Marion Youngs, Margaret Adams, and Laura Carter.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Keith Stone officiating. NYS Covid-19 guidelines will be followed. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be in place. Burial will be in Marathon Cemetery at a later date. My sincere condolences to the Hubbard family, Earle had a quick wit and wry sense of humor. I will never forget the laugh he burst out with when he taught this young lad what was in that pouch that he carried with him, back in the day!
