Michelle A. Harris

Michelle A. Harris, 41, of Marathon, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY.

Michelle was born in Cortland, NY, on May 13, 1978, the daughter of Mark and Darlene Burk Harris.  She had most recently been employed as a home health aide for CAPCO, and had previously worked at the pizzeria in Marathon.  Years ago, she enjoyed bowling with her mom and was an avid Dallas Cowboy and NY Yankee fan.  Most important to Michelle was her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mark and Darlene Harris of Marathon, she is survived by her brothers, Michael (Kim) Burk of Cortland and Mark (Melissa) Harris, Jr. of Scott; and a sister, Marissa Harris of Marathon.  She also leaves behind her maternal grandparents, Jim and Shirley Burk of Marathon; several aunts and uncles, including her uncle Thomas Burk Sr. of Cortland; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Vernon and Florence Harris.

Funeral services for Michelle will be held at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. with Tom Boice officiating.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 6:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Michelle may be made to an organization that benefits mental health awareness or to the American Heart Association.
