Born on August 22, 1943, in Cortland, NY, Millie was the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Matias Hegedus. Her life was defined by her deep-rooted connections to her family, community, and her faith.

A devoted communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Marathon, NY, Millie was known for her unwavering dedication to her spiritual community. Throughout her life, she nurtured her relationships with family and friends, always extending warmth and kindness to those around her.

Among her proudest accomplishments was her lifelong membership in the Marathon Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, showcasing her commitment to community service and support.

Millie’s joy often emanated from her flower garden, where she found solace and beauty in nurturing plants. This hobby perfectly reflected her nurturing spirit, as she cultivated both nature and relationships with equal care and love.

Millie's legacy will live on through her loving husband, Ernest Wood, with whom she shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Her familial love extended to her siblings—Andrew (Yvonne), George, Lori, Tom (Josie), and Jim (Liz)—along with several cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will all miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Joseph Hegedus.
