Noel W. Wiley

Noel W. “Bo” Wiley, 89, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Bo was born in Akron, OH, on October 20, 1930, the son of the late Dewey and Orpha Faidley Wiley.  Bo’s working years included masonry, backhoe and dump truck construction and also included 14 years at Marathon Central School, retiring in 1995.  His passions were old cars and playing cards with his buddies.  Bo served his country as a very proud Marine from 1950-1952.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria; a son, Patrick of Maine, NY, and a grandson, Chase of Sykesville, MD.  He also leaves behind a brother, James of Hendersonville, NC; and sisters, JoAnne McLohon and Carol Lundy of Longwood, FL, and Donna Wiernicki of Trumansburg.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Emerson (Jack), Richard, and Roger; and  a sister, Ethel (Skeez) Overton.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.

So sorry for your loss. I remember working with him at the Elementary School. Always happy and if we needed anything, he was always there to help.
His is going to be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers to the whole family.

Gloria and family, so sorry for your loss. We always looked forward to our morning visits with Bo when he would stop in to Reilly's Caf after playing cards. He was truly a good man who will be missed by all who knew him. Are thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.

We knew Bo for over 50 years, recognize him in each of the comments that have been recorded, know them to be true and feel that we are the better for it. May he rest in peace with the knowledge that he brightened the lives of so many. Our condolences to Mrs. Wiley and Pat and to Bo's extended family.

We have been friends of Bo for most of our lives. I knew him for years at Marathon Lanes and in town. Diana also valued him as a friend for many years. He will be sorely missed. Prayers and condolences.
