Roger L. Wescott, 76, of Marathon, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Norwich Rehab & Nursing Facility, Norwich, NY, with his daughter by his side.
Born in Montrose, PA on October 14, 1949, Roger was the son of the late Nathaniel and Beatrice Barnhart Wescott. A devoted and respected member of his community, Roger’s life was marked by dedication to his work, family, and passions.
Roger was a proud graduate of Whitney Point Central School. He began his career with Grumman Boat and, following his tenure there, brought his talents to several different companies in the area, contributing positively to each workplace and earning the respect of colleagues and friends.
In addition to his professional life, Roger was an active and cherished member of the George F. Riordan American Legion Post #974 Sons of the Legion in Whitney Point, underscoring his commitment to service and community involvement. He was also known for his spirited support as a member of the pit crew for the Brady Racing Team and as an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers—passions that brought him joy and connection throughout his life.
Roger is survived by his sons Andrew (Ruffa) Wescott of Apalachin, and Stephen Wescott of Groton, and his daughter Ashley Lockwood of Bainbridge. He took great pride in his many grandchildren: Dylan, Kaiden, Darryn, Bryce, Nichele, Melyssa, Michael, Kaitlyn, Krystina, Jesse, and Aiden, all of whom carry forward his legacy of warmth and love. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth (Lena) Wescott of Hallstead, PA, and his sister Eloise Wescott of Whitney Point, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his brothers Donald, Gordon, Duane, Melvin, and Terry.
A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Roger may be directed to the George F. Riordan American Legion Post #974, 7318 119th Street, Whitney Point, NY 13862.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the compassionate care and support they provided during Roger’s final days.
