Salvatore John Parrino, 91, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Born on Staten Island, NY, on August 12, 1930, Sal was the son of the late Silvestro and Rosalie Parrino. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an electrician for Con-Ed on Staten Island. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking in his shop. He enjoyed his desserts, especially cookies, but most important to Sal was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Martha Hilbert Parrino; and his children, Salvatore (Patty) Parrino, Jr., Marie (Peter) Defresco, Charles Parrino, Anthony (Sue) Parrino, and Joseph Parrino. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Harry Parrino; and siblings, John, Joe, Millie, Charles, and Claire.
Funeral services will be held at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., with Reverend Corey VanKuren officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Marathon Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 12:00 p.m. The family has kindly asked for those attending to please wear a mask. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sal may be made to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210.
