Yvonne A. Fox

Yvonne A. (Elser) Fox, 85, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, while surrounded by her loving family.

Born in King Ferry, NY, on April 12, 1938, Yvonne was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Shaw Elser.  She was a member of the Marathon United Methodist Church where she had served as a church trustee.  For 18 years, she drove school bus for the Marathon Central School before working as a teacher aide for CAPCO for another 18 years.  She was a former member of the Marathon American Legion and also a former member of the Cortland County Auxiliary Police.

She is survived by her sons, Gordon J. Fox of Marathon, Lloyd (Tina) Fox of Cincinnatus, Gregory Fox of Palm Springs, CA, and Paul (Rose) Fox of Marathon.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Anna Marie Fox of Oxford, Nicole (Tom) DeRusso of Cincinnatus, Benjamin Fox of Marathon, and Matthew Fox of South Carolina; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Elser of Genoa; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by brothers, Charles, John, and Donald Elser; and sisters, Mary Richards and Edith Mayette.

Memorial services for Yvonne will be held at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Yvonne may be directed to the Marathon United Methodist Church, P.O.
