Life Story

JoAnn M. (Hoffmier) Bailey, 76, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at her home, while surrounded by her family.

JoAnn was born in Owego, NY, on August 5, 1944, the daughter of the late Max and Inza Underwood Hoffmier.  She retired from Borg Warner, Ithaca, where he had worked as a tensioner.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Bailey, and her children, Jack Williams of Cortland, Brian (Tami) Bailey of Marathon, and Yvonne Bailey of Marathon.  She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, George Hoffmier of Berkshire and Gerald Clark of Georgia; a sister, Betty (Gary) Allen of Newark Valley; a sister-in-law, Lilian Hoffmier of Richford; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John Hoffmier; and a sister, Delores Mosher.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
