When a death occurs, your primary responsibility is to yourself and your loved ones. However, there are a number of things that require attention simultaneously. By calling the Marathon Memorial Chapel, regardless of the day or hour, we will respond to your needs quickly and competently in a professional and caring manner. Our main function is to assist you with the necessary details of the funeral process.

Arranging funeral details.
Assisting in notifying friends and relatives.
Securing necessary permits and death certificates.
Care and custody of the body and embalming, if requested.
Coordinating details with clergy.
Arranging the music you have selected and notifying soloists, singers, and musicians.
Placing obituary and funeral notices in the newspapers of your area.
Assisting in arrangements of cemetery space, grave opening and closing.
Ordering of floral arrangements.
Assistance with monument selection and at-need lettering.
Arranging transportation for you and the members of your family prior to, during, and after the funeral.
Notifying any fraternal orders or other organizations that might have a part in the service.
Supervision and direction of the funeral or memorial service at the funeral home, a church, or other location.
Notifying your attorney if you are in need of legal assistance.
Assistance in securing Veterans Administration burial allowances to which you may be entitled.
Assistance in filing a claim for benefits under the U.S. Social Security Act, if applicable.
Help in completing insurance claim forms.
Contacting family or friends to serve as pallbearers.
If the deceased is to be sent to a distant location for burial, the funeral director will make all necessary arrangements for transportation, funeral service and burial at that destination.

The funeral service options offered vary from service to service. There is no one way to arrange services as each service is met to meet the individual needs of the families we serve. The following options are meant as a merely a guideline for the various types of services which can be provided. Further personalization of any service can be arranged through consultation with the funeral director.
